Sunday Funnies

As a kid, I remember every once in a while we‘d get a physical newspaper at our door. I don’t know if my family actually ever subscribed to the paper, if we received it as part of a trial period, or if it was delivered to us by accident, but if there was a physical newspaper on our kitchen table, I’d immediately search for the comic strips.

Most people read their news on their screens and I don’t know how often cartoons or comics are a part of that, but I think they are an important part of the news(paper). As you know, the Hayward Herald is completely digital (except for our lovely zine) and I’ve been tossing the idea around of making a digital comic for our dedicated subscribers. I thought it would be a nice treat to do a simple little comic for Hayward’s 150th birthday. Here it is and long live the Sunday Funnies.
